How We Work Talisker Players is dedicated to the choral/orchestral repertoire. We’re also dedicated to working with choirs of all sizes, in repertoire from early baroque to 21st-century. The number of players and the configuration of instruments changes with each engagement, depending on the repertoire and also the budget of the choir. Although most of the time we work on modern instruments, we also perform on period instruments. We do not have our own music director – for each engagement we’re conducted by the director of the choir that has hired us, and we shape our performance according to his or her vision. Our repertoire is extensive. Also, we’re committed to preparing parts well ahead of time for every engagement. So we’re able to work effectively within the short rehearsal times available to most choirs. Our members are passionate about the choral literature, and have been performing together since 1995. We understand issues of style, colour, balance and blend. So whatever the size and configuration of the ensemble, it always sounds like an orchestra, not a pick-up group.
